Few people have seen a pure orange diamond due to its rarity. These lively and vibrant diamonds are unrivalled. The colour ranges from the colours of autumn to bold summer fruits.
Orange Origin
Most orange diamonds have been discovered in Africa. The popularity peaked in 1997 with the auction of the 5.54 carat vivid orange “Pumpkin Diamond”, purchased the day before Halloween and was at the time the largest orange diamond to be discovered.
Colour formation
Like yellow diamond formation, the nitrogen atoms in orange diamonds must be grouped together in a specific way. These nitrogen arrangements absorb yellow and blue regions of the spectrum to produce an orange colour.
