Blue diamonds are extremely rare and mysterious. Their colour ranges from a light sky blue to a deep ocean blue and is a favourite for colour choice for diamond collectors and investors.
Blue Origin
The most notable blue diamond areas are the Cullinan Mine and Golconda region. The 45 carat “Hope Diamond” is the most famous blue diamond in history.
Colour Formation
For the most part, a blue diamond’s colour formation is due to the presence of boron. The bonding of carbon and boron causes an absorption of red, yellow and green of the spectrum, producing a blue colour.
